Cubs a poor man's 2001 Mariners

The time is still early in this baseball season for me to make this spot on prediction/comparison. The '08 Cubs are a fuzzy mirrored image of Lou Pinella's '01 Mariners which won 116 games yet lost in the AL Championship series. I see so many similarities that I think I am seeing double. The M's had 4 players with 20+ homers, 4 players hit over .300, 4 middle of the road starters all win at least 15 games and an outstanding bullpen of Sasaki, Rhodes, Nelson and Charlton. Hmmm. 20+ homers (Ramirez, Lee, Soriano, Soto) .300 + average (Lee, Fukodome, Theriot, Johnson) 15 games is a stretch (Zambrano, Dempster, Hill, Marquis) Strong bullpen (Wood, Marmol, Howry, Eyre) I think the bullpen will be there by the end of the year. Of course both teams have the same manager. The one glaring difference is stolen bases, Ichiro in '01, hmmm who have the Cubs wanted (Roberts), then the comparison would be complete. I hold to my earlier prediction that the Cubs will be worth watching but, World Series, 116wins, I think not. Have fun with Fukomania and go get me a Bud Light, and there is always next year. Live the Truth.
